A range with two stories
Bianco is one of those brands where the honest answer depends on which unit you're talking about. Most of the Biancos we come across live in stormwater pits — it's where the brand turns up most, though for that duty it runs second to the Daveys and Grundfos units we'd normally fit. On the sewer side it's a similar story: the higher-head Biancos can genuinely push serious lift, and we fit them where a house has to push hard up to the main — but for high-head sewer duty they again run second, this time to DAB.
The lighter low-head models are a different matter — in our experience they're on the flimsy side for work that never lets up, and they're a fair share of the early-failure callouts we attend.
So this page carries both messages. If your Bianco has stopped, we put the megger on the motor and the amp clamp on the supply before judging anything — plenty of these callouts turn out to be a stuck float, a leaking non-return valve or a jammed impeller, all sorted in one visit. If the readings say the motor's wet, we tell you that too, and a replacement goes onto your existing pit and pipework.

The classic submersible fault, and Bianco units cop it like every other brand — floats snag on the cable, stick against the pit wall or simply wear out. If the motor still meggers well, a float swap is a quick fix that's absolutely worth doing.

Non-return valve failure
A flap valve that won't seal lets everything you've just pumped fall straight back into the pit, so the pump runs twice for every flush. It makes a healthy unit look like a dying one — and it's one of the most worthwhile repairs in the trade.

Jammed impellers
Wipes and rag will seize an impeller on any pump. We lift the unit, clear the jam and inspect the impeller — and while it's out of the pit, the megger goes on the motor so you know whether the rest of the pump is worth its place.

Seal wear and wet motors
Once the shaft seals let go and moisture reaches the windings, the insulation reading falls away and the motor is living on borrowed time. We don't pretend otherwise — when the megger says the motor's gone, a replacement on the existing pit is usually the smarter path.

We'd need to test it to say for sure, but here's the pattern we see: the lighter low-head units in the range can battle once a household leans on them daily, especially where the pit has to push a long way or uphill to the main. Just as often, though, the fault is a stuck float, a leaking non-return valve or a jammed impeller — problems every brand suffers and all fixable in one visit. A megger and amp test settles it either way.
Is my Bianco pump worth repairing?
If the motor still meggers well — yes, often. A float, a non-return valve or a cleared impeller jam will put a healthy unit straight back to work.
